About the Canada Green Building Council

The Canada Green Building Council is the leading national industry organization advancing green building practices for livable communities.  It represents 1,800 organizations engaged in the design, construction, and operation of buildings.

The Council implements the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System in Canada, rating buildings’ sustainable site development, water and energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.

In Alberta its goal is to LEED-certify 110,000 homes and other buildings including schools by 2012.
